Adele, 34, and Dave, 30, met after both appearing on ITV dating show Take Me Out in 2012. But it was hardly love at first sight – Dave rejected Adele in favour of someone else.

Adele went on to bag her own date and joined Dave and his potential lover on the fictional Isle of Fernando.

Here, despite either of them getting on with their respective partner, Adele didn’t even speak to Dave. She assumed he wasn’t interested after turning her down on the show.

It wasn’t until months later, at a reunion party, that the couple realised they had a lot in common and started to socialise.

Adele said: “I liked Dave from the start but didn’t realise they were these strong relationship feelings. I thought I wasn’t his cup of tea because he kept blowing me out when I’d ask him out on a date.

“He made me chase him for quite a while, playing hard to get.

“Eventually, I thought I can’t keep asking him out. I just told him outright that I had feelings for him. He had no idea.”

The couple got together and by February 2013, with Adele pregnant, they were engaged. Dave popped the question on Valentine’s while they were holiday in Spain.

And in June 2013 they had their first child, Freddie. It was Take Me Out’s first baby.

Now the couple have celebrated another first for the show – a wedding.

Just 100 close family, friends and fellow contestants watched Adele and Dave tie the knot earlier this month.

The newlyweds are now settling down in Wales after returning from their honeymoon, which was another reminder of their TV beginnings – they visited the Isle of Fernando!

Adele said: “We love telling people how we met. It’s such a lovely story. People say to Dave ‘I bet you never live it down that you turned her light off’.”
